Published: April 26, 2010

On April 18th 2010, Hong Leong Bank Vietnam joined GFO (Gentle Fund Organization) and seven social groups on a “Join-Hand” program at Long Hoa Orphanage in District 7 (HCMC) to create a healthy environment and to raise their awareness on environment protection for the orphans there as well as those children in neighboring areas. In addition to those activities of painting walls and cleaning the Orphanage's surroundings, all volunteers shared the importance of green trees lessons and plant growing methods with the children. This is a practical way to instill children on environment-protection attitude.

Through these activities, Hong Leong Bank Vietnam also aimed at improving the bank staff qualifications as a code of conduct and a good living style both in business and in society. This is a part of corporate social responsibility of Hong Leong Bank Vietnam as its employees are also an integral part of the community.

At this event, the representatives of Hong Leong Bank Vietnam granted the first 20 scholarships to the children with difficulties and outstanding academic performance in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a batch of the 100 scholarships worth a total of 700,000,000 VND (US$36,000) that Hong Leong Bank Vietnam grants for needy children in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi within 12 months under the Program “Be A Guardian” project initiated by the GFO.
