Q: What is Transaction Signing and do I need it?

A: Transaction Signing is an added security that’s put in place by the bank and is applicable when customers perform open/non-favourite funds transfers* or bill payments above RM10,000 on Connect Internet Banking.

* Funds transfers include 3rd party HLB Transfer, IBG, Instant Transfer and Telegraphic Transfer.

 

Q: Do I need to do Transaction Signing for all transactions?

A: No, you will be required to use Transaction Signing when you perform open/non-favourite funds transfers* or bill payments above RM10,000 on Connect Internet Banking. For similar transactions with amount RM10,000 and/or below, you will continue to use the present Transaction Authorization Code (“TAC”) received via Short Messaging Service (“SMS”) to authorize your transactions.

Q: How do I enrol for Transaction Signing?

A: You will need to download Hong Leong Connect mobile app from Google Play or App Store. Login and type “Settings Profile” in the chatbar, and then navigate to “Login and Security”. Finally, select “Enrol Transaction Signing” option to start enrol with this added security feature. 

 

You will receive a 6-digit Transaction Authorization Code (“TAC”) via Short Messaging Service (“SMS”). Enter the 6-digit TAC to proceed with Transaction Signing enrolment and you will receive an SMS notification once the enrolment is completed.

 

Q: How do I perform Transaction Signing?

A: If you perform an open/non-favourite funds transfers or bill payments above RM10,000 on Connect Internet Banking, you  will receive a push notification on the device that you have enrolled for Transaction Signing via Hong Leong Connect mobile app. Alternatively, you may go to the Quick Access Screen (without the need to login) and tap on “Transaction Signing” icon to view the details of the transaction that you have just performed in the internet banking channel. You will need to verify the transaction details and decide to ‘Authorize’ or ‘Reject’. To complete the transaction, return to the internet banking channel and click “Submit” on the browser. 

 

Q: Can I register for Transaction Signing on two different devices?

A: No, you can only enrol Transaction Signing on 1 device at any one time. 

 

Q: What is the minimum requirement for my device to enrol for Transaction Signing?

A: You can run Transaction Signing on iOS 8 or later; and Android 4.1.2 or later.

 

Q: Can I use Transaction Signing without an internet connection?

A: No, you need an internet connection for Transaction Signing. 

 

Q: How do I un-enrol Transaction Signing?

A: Similar to Transaction Signing enrolment, type “Settings Profile” in chatbar on the Hong Leong Connect mobile app and select ‘Login & Security’. There is an option to un-enrol by tapping on “Un-enrol Transaction Signing”.

 

Q: What happens if I change my mobile phone?

A: If you have enrolled for Transaction Signing before, you will first need to un-enrol Transaction Signing on the old device. Thereafter, you can continue with Transaction Signing enrolment again on your new mobile phone device so that Transaction Signing push notification is correctly delivered to your device during a transaction.

 

Q: What happens if I change to a new mobile number?

A: A change in your mobile number will not affect your Transaction Signing as it is tied to your enrolled mobile device. However, you will not be able to receive the SMS TAC on your new mobile number until you have updated the new number with the bank at any Hong Leong ATM Machines or contact our Hong Leong Call Centre.  

 

Q: If I lost my mobile phone which is already enrolled with Transaction Signing, can I re–register for Transaction Signing on a new device?

A: For security reason, please contact Hong Leong Call Centre at 03-7626 8899 for assistance.

 

Q: How much time do I have to authorize a transaction with Transaction Signing?

A: You are given 3 minutes to authorize your transaction on your mobile device before it gets expired.

 

Q: What happens if I don’t approve the transaction with the Transaction Signing notification that I have received?

A: Without your authorization, the transaction will not be processed and the amount will not be deducted from your account. However, due to security reason, numerous attempts of unanswered or rejected transaction will block your access to Hong Leong Connect.

 

Q: Can I use Transaction Signing for transactions that I have saved as ‘Favourites’?

A: Transaction Signing is not required for transactions that you have saved as ‘Favourites’.

 

Q: I did not receive the Transaction Signing push notification to authorize my transaction. What should I do?

A: You may resend push notification, but please check that your push notification settings is enabled on your mobile phone and the internet connection is working. 

 

Q: I received a push notification to authorize a transaction via Transaction Signing but I did not initiate it. What should I do? 

A: If the transaction is suspicious, please reject the transaction and proceed to contact Hong Leong Call Centre at 03-7626 8899 immediately to lodge a report.
