Hong Leong Islamic Bank expands network and strengthens foothold in the East Coast
Kuala Terengganu, 27 July 2010 - In line with its continuous efforts to meet the ever-evolving needs of its valued customers, Hong Leong Islamic Bank (HLISB) today officially opened its first full-fledged Islamic branch in Terengganu, increasing the number of Hong Leong Islamic Bank branches to four, nationwide.
The honourable Terengganu State Secretary, YB Dato' Haji Mazlan Bin Ngah was present to grace the event."The newly launched Kuala Terengganu branch not only complements the three existing Islamic branches located in Kota Bharu, Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur but also aims to meet the needs of our growing customer base in the East Coast - a high growth area for Islamic Banking," said Puan Hijah Arifakh Othman, Managing Director of Hong Leong Islamic Bank.
"Our expansion is a vital step towards extending our reach to, and solidifying our relationship with our customers, and embedding the Bank's presence within the local community."This is the first Hong Leong Islamic Bank branch, which features the new contemporary look and feel. "Aside from the modern interior design, we have also included state of the art touch-screen terminals and a digital signage to help speed up banking transactions. A special area dedicated to e-banking with self-service terminals - ATM, cash deposit and cheque deposit machines - is also available," she explained.In line with HLISB's aim to provide exceptional customer experience and to ensure all customers' banking needs are met, the branch offers a wide suite of innovative services and solutions covering areas like structured finance, capital market, personal financial services and wealth management based on the tenets and principles of Shariah. In conjunction with the branch opening, attractive campaigns on deposits and financing are being introduced.
"HLISB fully supports the Government's interest in promoting Malaysia as a center for Islamic finance. With this new branch, we will be extending more new and innovative Shariah-compliant products and services in the marketplace and providing impetus for the growth of Islamic banking in the country," she commented."Aside from responding to customer needs, it is equally important to us to reach out to the community in which we operate," said Puan Hijah. In conjunction with the opening of the new branch, HLISB presented donations totaling RM10,000 to two charity homes - Taman Sinar Harapan and Persatuan Orang Pekak Terengganu.
It also sponsored the breaking of fast for two mosques in Kuala Terengganu in view of the impending holy month of Ramadan. The Bank also took the opportunity to present a RM15,000 payment of alms to Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu.
