Q1. Who is eligible to apply for HLB account via the Apply@HLB app?

A1. Any Malaysians, aged 18 and above, who have an existing bank account with another bank but not yet a customer of Hong Leong Bank (through any of these products including but not limited to current or savings account, credit cards, home loan, auto loan).

 

Q2. Is there any age requirement to apply for HLB account via the Apply@HLB app?

A2. Yes, there is. To apply for HLB account via the Apply@HLB app you have to be at least 18 years old.

 

Q3. What are the documents required to apply for HLB account via Apply@HLB?

A3. We only require your MyKad (NRIC). At this moment, other cards such as MyKid, MyPR, MyKAS, MyPolis and MyTentera are not accepted.

 

Q4. Do I need to complete my application in one go?

A4. No, you don’t have to. You may choose to leave halfway through and resume your application later when it’s more convenient to you. Simply ensure the application is submitted within 14 days from the day you first initiated the application.

 

Q5. Can I choose not to set up my HLB Connect username and password when applying for HLB account?

A.5. Setting up HLB Connect username and password is part of the application process. You will need HLB Connect App / Online to manage your account once it’s successfully opened e.g. checking balances, making online payment & transfers and even withdrawing money from HLB ATM using Connect ATM Withdrawal feature while waiting for your debit card to arrive.

 

Q6. How long will my application for HLB account take?

A6. Your application will be processed within 3 working days after you have successful submitted your application. An email and SMS will be sent to you. SMS informing you that your account is will be processed within 3 working days.

 

Q7. How will I know that my application is successful? Will I be receiving an email or SMS from HLB to notify me when I can deposit money to my HLB account?

A7. System will send you an email and SMS notification once the application is successful and at the same time will inform you to fund the account within 7 days.

 

Q8. How do I get my debit card?

A8. You will receive your debit card via post at the address you have specified in your application. Your debit card will be delivered to you within 14 days after you have successfully made the first deposit into your newly opened account via an online transfer.

 

Q9. Can my first deposit into the newly opened account be made via an online transfer from my friend’s / family member’s bank account?

A9. No, the first deposit into your newly opened HLB account must be from your own account with another bank.

 

Q10. At which point can I start using the username and password that I created at application to access HLB Connect App / Online services?

A10. Once you have successfully made the first deposit into your newly opened account, your HLB Connect will be activated automatically within one day. You may log in to HLB Connect App / Online using the username and password you have created at application stage.

 

Q11. Can I withdraw money from my newly opened account while waiting for my debit card to arrive?

A11. Yes, you may use withdraw money from your newly opened account at any Hong Leong Bank ATMs using the Connect ATM Withdrawal feature found in HLB Connect App. Please download the HLB Connect App and log in using the same username and password created during application. You may want to log in via HLB Connect Online first to set your account for transactions and daily spending limit.

 

Q12. Will I get notification via email or SMS once my HLB Connect is activated?

A12. Once your account is successfully funded, an email and SMS will be sent to notify you that your account is successfully activated and that the HLB Connect Online Banking has been activated for you.

 

Q13. How do I activate my debit card?

A13. You may activate your debit card in HLB Connect Online by following these simple steps: Login > click on ‘Other Services’ > click on ‘Activate Card’ under Debit / ATM Card and follow the instructions provided.

 

Q14. Can I make payment or transfer from my account before my debit card arrives?

A14. Yes, you can make online payment or transfer from your newly opened account via HLB Connect once you have successfully made the first deposit into your account. You can log in to HLB Connect Online / App using the same username and password created during application. You may want to log in via HLB Connect Online first to set your account for transactions and daily spending limit.
