Kuala Lumpur, 17 July 2017
Hong Leong Bank Berhad (“HLB” or the “Bank”) has emerged triumphant amongst Malaysian banks to clinch the title of ‘Malaysia’s Best Bank’ at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2017, a much respected award in global banking. The award was accorded to HLB in recognition of the Bank’s ongoing transformation towards being a highly digital and innovative ASEAN financial services company. It has an impressive track record of consistently enhancing customer propositions through both product and service innovation.
“Hong Leong is honoured to be named Malaysia’s Best Bank this year. We pride ourselves as a forward-thinking Bank – a vision that is reflected in our solutions, through the use of innovative and cutting-edge technologies. We are making good headway in our transformative advancement and winning this award encourages us to double our efforts” said Domenic Fuda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HLB.
In recent times Hong Leong Bank has introduced several first-in-Malaysia innovations focused on improving overall customer experience. Among these include the use of Artificial Intelligence in support of customer service (powered by IBM Watson’s cognitive computing technology), the appearance of a robotic concierge at branches to help guide customers, and the launch of “Loan2Go” being a straight-through-processing mobile auto loan application platform.
The Bank has also initiated a mentorship and developmental programme named ‘HLB LaunchPad’ aimed at nurturing young Malaysian entrepreneurs, and the incoming generation of FinTech and other Tech savvy start-ups.
“We are living up to our aspiration of being digital at the core. This does not simply mean being mobile or just by having the latest technology. It is about finding new ideas to interact and engage with our customers and staff. Ultimately, it is them that drive change and innovation at the Bank, and we have them to thank for this award,” added Domenic Fuda.
