Savings Multiplier Plans for Every Stage of Life

Kuala Lumpur, 29 November 2007

HLB today launched the Hong Leong Savings Multiplier Plan (SMP) which is a combined investment savings account. Chief Operating Officer, Ms Moey Tan saidthat the product was developed to offer customized, pre-packaged financial solutions with savings as an added-value feature to meet the market’s changingneeds. It was also a result of the collaboration between HLB, HLG Unit Trust and Asset Management. The SMP offers three plans designed to addresscustomers’ financial needs at different life stages – Retirement, Education and Pension Planning.

“We have different priorities at different life stages. With such changing priorities, it is important to diversify and distribute our investments acrossdifferent asset classes in order to meet our desired financial goals” said Ms Tan. The SMP’s were designed with the concept of customers making small andregular contributions periodically to meet their long term financial goals. Thus with the Hong Leong Savings Multiplier Plan, customers no longer have totime their investments. Leveraging on the power of dollar cost averaging, customers can use the power of time to potentially maximize their investments.

The new portfolios were developed from a pre-selection and packaging of unit trust products. My Retirement Plan comprises HLGUT Bond Funds, HLG StrategicFunds and HLG Balanced Funds and is designed to accumulate and grow customers’ funds to build a nest egg for retirement. My Pension Plan on the other handholds HLG Bond Funds and HLG Growth funds with the aim of providing customers regular income after retirement, whilst My Child’s Education Plan has abalanced composition of HLG Bond funds, HLG Dividend Funds and HLG Penny Stock Funds targeting to build a lump sum education fund.

The funds in each portfolio were selected taking into consideration that their performance track records has outperformed the benchmarks and moreimportantly, the risk of each of the funds chosen. All plans are designed to complement customers’ current savings habits for each life stage financialpriority. The objective is to provide customers with medium to long-term positive capital appreciation. Every portfolio will invest in a diversifiedselection of bonds and equities that have been comprehensively prescreened and selected for their historical total returns, performance consistency andvolatility to ensure customers optimal risk-adjusted returns.

The SMP is an affordable investment instrument – initial investment starts as low as RM5, 000 with a competitive sales charge fee of 3%. On top of that, each investor will be rewarded with an annual 0.1% cash reward.

The first 1,500 customers who take up a SMP during launch period would also receive an exclusive designer watch or a trendy trolley luggage. For moredetails, visit any of Hong Leong’s 186 branches, call 1-800-38-8888 or log on to www.hlb.com.my
