KUALA LUMPUR, 31 October 2011 - Hong Leong Islamic Bank ("HLISB") today announced that it has completed Malaysia's first vesting of an Islamic Bank with EONCAP Islamic Bank Berhad ("EIBB"), following the recent integration exercise between its parent-bank, Hong Leong Bank Berhad ("HLB") and the former-EON Bank Berhad ("EBB").
"From the onset, our teams have worked tirelessly to ensure a speedy integration to allow us to realise synergy value from this unprecedented, trailblazing corporate exercise. The milestone achieved today spearheads the way for future growth activities in Islamic finance in the country," said Puan Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong Islamic Bank.
Beginning today, all former-EONCAP Islamic Bank branches will be re-designated as Hong Leong Islamic Bank branches, effectively allowing all customers from both banks to conduct banking transactions at all of its branches as well as ATMs, Cheque Deposit Machines and Cash Deposit Machines. Customers may view the full list of services available at HLISB's website at www.hlisb.com.my.
HLISB and the former-EIBB customers may also enjoy the expanded suite of products and services across the Hong Leong Bank Group's enlarged footprint of 329 branches as well as over 1,400 Self-Service Terminals, driven by a combined workforce of both banking groups.
Payment and transaction instruments issued by the former EIBB, which include cards, cheques and bank drafts, will remain valid until further notification, when they will be replaced with Hong Leong Islamic Bank-issued instruments. To facilitate a smooth transition, customers of the former-EONCAP Islamic Bank will receive a new HLISB passbook when they conduct their next transaction at any branch, while ATM and debit cards can only be replaced at domicile branches.
From today onwards, the bank will also feature an enhanced suite of Shariah-compliant products and services, as a result of putting together the best features and benefits offered by both banks and tailored specifically to the needs of customers and communities.
"With today's historic integration milestone achieved, we have much to look forward to as a strong and united Hong Leong Islamic Bank. I am confident that we are all set to move forward as a bank that seeks to be interwoven into the fabric of the communities in which we operate, while continuing to innovate and trail blaze the Islamic financial services industry," declared Raja Teh.
