KUALA LUMPUR, 6 MAY 2026 – Hong Leong Bank (“HLB” or “the Bank”) has contributed a total of RM1.55 million across two years towards local welfare homes, schools and underprivileged communities. The donation was collected as part of the HLB For Good: Business & Corporate Banking Fundraising Initiative, held in conjunction with the Bank’s Business & Corporate Banking (“BCB”) annual Chinese New Year customer appreciation dinners.
Initially setting a target of RM500,000, the overwhelming response from customers saw the campaign exceed its goal for this year, allowing the Bank to expand its reach and provide support to a larger number of welfare homes nationwide. These funds come at a critical time, as many charitable organisations have been hit hardest by challenging economic conditions, struggling to maintain essential operations and care for their residents.
Now in its second year, the campaign invited corporate clients to contribute towards social causes alongside the Bank. This joint contribution underscores HLB’s belief that the strongest impact is made when the Bank and its customers act as partners, not just in business, but in a shared mission to do good for the community.
Yow Kuan Tuck, HLB’s Managing Director of Business & Corporate Banking, expressed his deep appreciation for the clients who made this possible, “We are incredibly thankful to our customers who stepped up with such generosity. In these challenging times, welfare homes often face the brunt of financial shifts, and our clients’ willingness to give back shows a profound sense of responsibility and community spirit. At HLB, we see ourselves as partners with our customers in every sense. We don’t just collaborate on financial growth, but we collectively invest in the well-being of the society we all live in.”
The donations raised this year will be utilized to enhance living conditions, healthcare, and educational resources for various homes, aligned with the Bank’s “Built Around You” philosophy which drives HLB to be a catalyst for clients to invest back into the local landscape.
This commitment to social progress is a long-standing hallmark of the Bank’s operations. HLB has consistently demonstrated this ethos through wide-reaching community engagement programs, such as the flagship HLB DuitSmart initiative which drives nationwide financial literacy. These sustained efforts have earned the Bank significant industry acclaim, including being named Bank of the Year for Community Empowerment at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards for multiple consecutive years, as well as receiving the CSR Excellence Award for enhancing educational opportunities.
